Italian ship "Palinuro" visits Croatian Navy

In the frame of the bilateral military cooperation between the Croatian Navy and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Italy, the ship "Palinuro" of the Navy of the Italian Republic visits the Croatian Navy and the town of Split from 10 to 14 August 2012. The ship is a school sailboat, which is designed to train cadets of the Naval NCO School "Mariscuola Taranto".
Commander of the ship "Palinuro", Commander Giovanni Schiavonija and his delegation was received by the Chief of Navy Headquarters Command, Captain Predrag Stipanović, were they again confirmed the friendly relations between the two navies. Commander Schiavonija also paid tribute to the fallen members of the Croatian Navy in the Homeland War by litting candles in the Memorial Room of the Navy.
Sailboat "Palinuro" is 68.95 meters long, 10 meters wide and has draft of 4.85 meters. Its crew is made of 7 officers, 25 NCOs and 68 seamen. The ship sails at a speed of eight knots, and in favourable conditions it reaches a speed of 13 knots. The boat was launched in 1934 in Nantes, France.
