"Security situation in Serbia stable"

BELGRADE -- The security situation in the country is stable, said a regular annual analysis of operative and functional capabilities of the Serbian Army (VS) in 2009. The meeting in Belgrade on Wednesday that analyzed the situation was attended by top military brass and President Boris Tadić, according to the Ministry of Defense.
Defense Minister Dragan Šutanovac and VS Chief-of-General-Staff Lt. Gen. Miloje Miletić were both present.
The meeting considered the security situation in Serbia and the region, the dynamics of implementation of the tasks set before the VS last year, and other issues that influence maintenance and development of the armed forces' capabilities, said the MoD.
The meeting also made conclusions and set focal tasks for the future period, that should contribute to further enhancement of the VS capabilities, the statement said.
