India seals copter deal with Russia’s Rosoboronexport

NEW DELHI, (Itar-Tass) - India has signed a contract with Russia’s state-run arms exporter Rosoboronexport on supply of helicopters for the country’s Air Force, Indian Defence Minister A. K. Antony told a parliamentary meeting on Tuesday.

India’s Defence Ministry inked similar contracts with India’s Hindustan Aeronotics (HAL) and Britain’s Augusta Westland.

HAL will supply advanced light helicopters, Rosoboronexport – medium helicopters and the British aircraft corporation – VIP helicopters.

At present, India is studying different variants to buy military and surveillance helicopters.
